White people seem to think that the Black Panther party are just a big ol’ Black Klu Klux Klan, running ‘round, lynching white folks. It’s just depressing is what it is.
The KKK isn’t currently lynching people, all though it still exists, [and btw, the KKK lynched tons of white people too], they’re an occultist terrorist organization. The BPs hold the exact equivalent racist beliefs as the KKK. To give an example of why historically ignorant white people need to stop pretending racism is something that can be so easily flipped and made “equal”, when a bunch of white dudes decided to be racist as fuck against anyone not white and Protestant, they spawned a murderous organization that would endure for over a hundred years, in which time they were able to gain enough political power to influence local and national politics, such that former Klan members held political positions.
They at one point had millions of members. Klan activity was enough to be the partial influence for millions of black people getting the fuck out of dodge and leaving the South. That is what happens when a few white guys decide to be racist. What happens when a few black folks decide to form their own group to respond to racism? They’re dismantled by government interference within 20 years and labeled radicals, terrorists, and a hate group from the jump.
Black people defending themselves against murderous white people is the same kind of wrong as white people killing black people for no reason? That is what you say when you try to suggest those two groups are two sides to the same coin.
The KKK was allowed to come back like a cockroach 3 different times over more than a century. That is how deep anti-black racism runs in this country. The Black Panther Party wasn’t allowed to exist for two decades before the government actively sabotaged them. That is how afraid this country is of mobilized black people who have learned they don’t have to take this bullshit anymore. That we even have to have this conversation is what happens when white people get to write history.

I’m not sure whether or not the creator of this .jpeg knows this or not, BUT when you had members of the Black Panther Party or any black activist walking around with raised fists saying “Black Power”.. It wasn’t because they (we) viewed themselves (ourselves) as superior, they wanted to show black people how powerful and dynamic we are as a race. They were teaching the importance of uplifting one another and supporting one another in our communities. We were focused on building up our children and not allowing them to forget their beauty, worth, or intelligence. Black people were out to take back what was stolen and stripped from us; not to murder, kill, rape, or sodomize white bodies.
The murder and degradation of any PoC (along with those in support of PoC) was all the KKK was ever about.
The Black Panthers have never been or never will be the black version of the KKK.
